Review by hotel critic
As a culinary critic based in Rome, I often seek hotels that balance comfort with functionality, especially for business retreats. My recent experience at Hotel Doria, while not without its hiccups, offers some key insights for corporate travelers. The location is certainly prime, just a short stroll from Milan Central Station. This makes accessing the city's vital business hubs easy and efficient. The hospitality team seemed compliant; I requested assistance from their events office, who were determined to lend a hand with logistics for our gatherings. The rooms were sizable and had promising amenities, though the absence of tissue boxes and temperature control was noticeable given the hotel's four-star reputation. Breakfast, albeit average in selection, was handled better since they prepared morning meal packs for our group, ensuring our early departures were seamless. On a less favorable note, there were some inconsistencies with service. Issues arose from my luggage theft, and the reception staff's response lacked urgency, which felt disheartening. Ultimately, while Hotel Doria shows potential as a business traveler's spot, it certainly has room for growth. With some adjustments, it could truly enhance the overall experience for those mixing work with leisure in fashionably vibrant Milan.
